Mayfields, President Eyring, and Haircuts

Grandma Mayfield and Aunt Jan went to Yellowstone for a little R&R in the wild and came to stay with us the Monday and Tuesday! It was a blast to have them here and just have them in my home! They spent a lot of time playing with Porter!

Next was when President Eyring came to the school for a devotional! We called in a couple favors and got tickets for Jordan, our friend Brittany Keller, and me (even though none of us are students). It was great to be there and so cool to see him--what a cool guy. Go here for his talk--listen to it because it's 100x better than just reading it..intonation is key. We were really hoping for the baby to be able to meet him, but they said he had a busy schedule or something and wasn't going to shake people's hands. Oh well...

Last was the haircut nonsense. Don't get me wrong--I love my hair, but I can't believe it actually happened. I've been thinking about getting my hair cut for a long time, but every time I cut my hair I just hate it and wish I had my long hair back, so I didn't ever get it cut. Well, my friend Kristi, who I watch her baby a couple times a week when she goes to her last class before graduating, has been wanting to cut her hair so she's been looking in magazines and online to see different styles. Well, then Brittany came along and mentioned how she wanted her hair cut short, and all of a sudden, we were all getting our hair cut the next day at the hair school in town...ahhh, mob mentality. I didn't think I'd actually do it, but I put my name down just in case. So I looked around online to see if there were any ideas of what I wanted for my hair, and found this picture of Katie Holmes that I really liked. However, we also wanted to donate our hair to Locks of Love and it has to be 10 inches, and 10 inches was right at the base of my hairline, so we cut it all off!

Ranch

Our next update is going to the Ranch in Wayan, Idaho for the first time with the baby. It was a blast. It was great to bring him to a place we both have a deep love for. We had him meet everyone there, both in the neighborhood and at church, and of course they all thought he was adorable. We took him four-wheeling while he was strapped in his carrier, and he liked being able to look around so much, but in the end just fell asleep.

A few weeks later, Grandma and Grandpa Bloxham came, and we brought the Sauser's along with us to work (you can see his working wounds on their blog). Later that week Aunt Theresa, Uncle Trav with a few of his boys, and our friend Brittany came up. It was great to hang out with everyone. Another time people were up, we went to the fish place and saw Up (which is a great movie, but not what I would call a kid's movie).

Also, our blog list was deleted when we changed our site address, so if we've forgotten you, it isn't on purpose, so tell us!

Taylor Swift and Coldplay---who could want more?

Our friends Dallin and Court introduced this sweet song to us, and I've been listening to it on repeat the whole time I've been cleaning the kitchen today! It's by the same guy who did "Waterfall" on the 2000 EFY cd.

Hello!

Welcome to our new site! It isn't going to be any different, let's be honest...but people were having a tough time with spelling the word "obsesses" so I changed it to pbandjbodily because that's who we are!

Alright, and now for a little update...

In April we went to California for Jordan's brother's baby blessing. Wyatt was born just a month after Porter, and he is adorable. It was a good trip, and it was fun for everyone to be together. The whole Bodily/Bloxham family was there!

As I was looking through our pictures, I realized I don't have a single one of Kim. Sorry Kim!

Next were camping extravaganzas. They were a blast, and the baby was AWESOME every time we went! We went up to Warm River, which is at the base of Mesa Falls. We went with our friends Dallin, Courtney, Abe, Andrea, and Andrea's cousin Court. It was super fun (I don't have any pictures of Dallin and Courtney--sorry!)--we went to Mesa Falls in the morning, and it was so fun to go up there again!

The one with all the rocks is the cliff we made an assembly line on and handed the baby up the cliff cause we didn't think it'd be safe for one of us to carry him on our back, just in case we fall.

Alright, the house needs to be clean and I have to make dinner, so that's enough of the updates for now, but that's a little more caught up than before!

CHANGING SITE NAME

A lot of people have had a hard time with my site name, so we're changing it on July 9th. It's going to be pbandjbodily.blogspot.com so change it on your bookmarks or blogs, or whatever!

I know...

I know...I haven't been very good at keeping this updated. I will---I promise because I want it recorded and want everyone to see the great pictures!

However, I will put some pictures of our great adventure today! I am in North Carolina with Porter, and we are staying with my old roommmate Brittany Ruch, Kate (who's living in NYC) and her roommate Meg (her name is Megan Margaret, she is from Missouri, and she is a Math teacher). One of my special requests for while I was visiting was to go to the Atlantic Ocean! Porter went to the Pacific Ocean while we were in San Fran in April, and we were going to be too close to miss it! I am so glad we did because I LOVE THE BEACH!!! Porter didn't like it as much as I wanted him to. I think he was a little overstimulated with being hot, being covered in sand, being wet, and having everything taste like salt. He didn't like the first few hours, and wouldn't even go in the water at all. It wasn't the wet, or the cold...he was afraid of the waves. I would just hold him above the waves and he would be silent until the waves would start to get close and he would start to wimper and then cry when then came up under him (but still NOT touching him). Later we got him a little more used to it (partially by burying him in the sand), and he liked it a lot more. It was a little hard for me to keep him from getting scared because the waves were kinda big so he didn't stay in the water a super long time, but I'm glad we got in (and got some great pictures!) Oh my gosh, we also started out the day by going to the Carborough Farmer's Market. IT'S MY FAVORITE. I could have just walked around for HOURS, even though it isn't super big. I walked through the whole thing like 4 times (we were only there MAYBE a half an hour), but I just didn't want to leave! I loved all the textures of the food, all the gorgeous hippies, and just all the atmosphere. Everyone was super friendly and everything was so casual and trusting. There was a dish full of cut up fruit at this one table and people were just supposed to have samples. There are samples at every table, so it's strange that I chose this particular one to question, but I just found is so intriguing that people were just supposed to use their bare hands to get the fruit out of the dish...whatever! Love hippies! Love love love it. That was the day! I'll update more when I get the chance! I've been super good at taking lots of pictures so I'll have lots of stuff to remind me of the great things that happened! I'm leaving NC Monday night, and tomorrow (Sunday) will be a day full of church, and Brittany's great sister cooking us pork ribs and hummus for dinner (yummmm), and Monday will be a day full of fun with at least some pool swimming because it is DANG hot here!

Oh right...and I cut my hair.

Lucky in Love

There are so many things to write about, and there are so many better pictures of the great things going on in my life right now (like being in NY! and soon NC!) but here is a picture I found on my family's computer of Jordan and my engagement pictures and I edited it (just a little) and thought I'd share it.

I realize all of the latest posts have been about the baby, and I'll have the next one be about all the stuff we're doing with our summer, but here are a couple good ones.
This is after we washed the truck. Porter slept through the whole thing, until it was time to dry the truck off, and he decided that he felt like this: He really likes splashing in the bathtub, so I hold him with my feet around his body so his feet and arms are free to go CRAZY! He loves it and is just sooo cute doing it!
This was his first experience sitting in the kid seat in the cart instead of sitting in his carseat, and he thought it was pretty fun!
He thought it was fun until he got tired, and then this was the setup I had while I finished my shopping at Walmart.

Sandwich

So, we've been trying to get the baby to eat rice cereal, but he just isn't interested. Maybe he isn't interested because it tastes horrible... Anyway, I was eating a peanut butter and jam sandwich yesterday, and he started grabbing for it. Well, there's a good amount of sugar in the jam, so I didn't really want him to have any, but the peanut butter I made myself, and the bread didn't have any milk in it, so Jordan was like "Let's see what he does if we let him have it." So I let him grab my arm to put the sandwich in his mouth, and he loved it! After we gave him a bite, I kept eating the part that wasn't already slobbered on, but in the end there was a little bit of slobbery sandwich left that I was holding in my hand. Porter decided he wanted more, and took it upon himself to take the piece of sandwich out of my hand! He didn't eat it, but he squashed it in his little fist---what a smart little kid! I guess that's the start of his love for pb&j's.

Lots of Firsts

Grandma and Grandpa Mayfield for part of my graduation present gave me a book to write all of the baby's firsts in. So, I've been keeping pretty good track of all of his firsts, and yesterday and today've included lots and lots of firsts for the baby!

The first one of Friday was that he discovered his shadow! He was very intrigued by the entire thing, and experimented a lot with him moving around and the figure moving around also.

He also touched wood chips for the first time! We went on a walk to a park a little while away from our house, and there were wood chips in the play area instead of gravel, and he thought wood chips were not as fun as the gravel (he laughed when I would sprinkle gravel on his feet, and did not laugh when I sprinkled wood chips on his feet). He is just absolutely adorable!

The next first was the first time going to Mesa Falls (the first time for Jordan and me too!), and included in that wa that he had never seen a waterfall before! It was a pretty big waterfall, and he gave it the Elvis lip (and one-sided mountain-top eyebrow) for a long time. You can certainly tell that these two are related!

He also touched snow with his hand for the first time. He's been snowed on before, so it's touched his face, but he never had touched a pile of snow before. We couldn't keep his socks on the whole time he was there, because we had to take his regular socks off and put them on his hands, so I put my hair-things around his legs to keep his socks on. It was very neat...

He also drove in the front seat of the car, without a carseat for the first time. We were driving from the upper falls to the lower falls and he was pretty cranky, and we drove slow, so we didn't put him back in his seat.

He also had a piece of mashed potato for the first time, which he happily ate (we're starting him on a little solid foods tomorrow for his 4 month birthday!), but we don't really have a picture of that...

He met a horse for the first time...it was scary, especially because I'm afraid of horses (and pretty much all other animals), and I didn't want the horse to bite my baby (I've had a bad experience with horses and biting), so this is the closest I've ever let a horse get to my face, and it was scary but no one got hurt!

Now for Saturday! (there aren't as many...)

We (Courtney and I) took the baby swimming for the first time! It was sooooooooo fun! I loooooove swimming, and it was the most fun EVER to be able to take him swimming! Court forgot her I-card, so she couldn't come in with us, but definitely next time! Courtney knows everything about kids, so she knew how to teach a baby how to get used to being underwater. He was pretty skeptical about it at the beginning, but it turned out ok. When we put his legs in, and I thought he would start crying then, but he was just fine. So we blew in his mouth so he would breathe in, and then dunked him! It was great! He didn't even cry! He wasn't super psyched about it, but he didn't cry! We practiced him floating on his back a little which he didn't like a super lot, but wasn't horrible!

Lots of firsts!
